First off, this morning we woke up, went outside to run and the grandma's all yelled at us and told it's gonna rain. We just thought ya right and kept going Then 3 minutes later the biggest down pour I have yet experienced caught us and soaked us to the bone. Yay!!! Then we returned home to clean and have our wonderful studies, head to the market to buy bags full of fresh fruit, then caught the MTR to come here and email. Then to finish it off we get to bake cookies with our mission mom and teach 2 lessons tonight. Hong Kong is the best. Mission is the best. :)
So it's July and July is such a special month and it's crazy that we are already well into it. During personal study one day this week, I felt prompted to read in Moroni 7 where it says, "have miracles ceased, Nay!" I then wrote down a couple dates that are pretty cool:
July 4, 1776- America's indépendance
July 24, 1847- Pioneer day/ Utah's statehood...aka LDS church is free to flourish
July 14, 1949- Hong Kong free for missionary work/ gospel
July 14, 2014- We are here in Hong Kong fighting for the freedom of these souls and miracles are still happening!!!
Have I told you about how it is the 65th Anniversary of the Hong Kong being dedicated to have the gospel. This is a big deal!! Haha sorry I never mentioned it before. But so on Saturday all of the Hong Kong members and missionaries met in the huge church building for a celebration. Several members shared their testimonies and told us information about this special day. Hong Kong is so precious and so amazing! The members are so grateful and appreciative towards the gospel. We also had a special video message from President Holland who also celebrated this special day with us! The church is growing here and more and more people are being blessed by the joy of the gospel!
Something cool that happened this weekend is we had zone exchanges! I got to bring Sister Bosler to my area and work with her. SO CRAZY!!! I met Sister Bosler at BYU last year in English class when we got our calls, now we are here in Hong Kong speaking Cantonese and preaching the gospel. TIME FLIES!!
Something funny that happened this week...a member asked us to teach her nonmember husband and we have to speak in English because he wants to learn it and it is the only way he will have us over. So she puts dinner on the table and spreads her arms and says, "Eat Rice" heeheh cuz in Chinese that is what you say whenever you eat meals....cuz here in Asia we eat lots of rice. It was just the cutest thing as we tried to explain to them that actually in America we don't say "eat rice" because we don't really eat rice...instead we'd just say...hahah i don't know, "eat food"? so cute :)
Something inspiring that happened this week...Our recent convert wanted to come finding with us. She showed us around the village and knocked a couple doors. Then found a couple. The man is dying from cancer, but is the happiest man i have met in Hong Kong. We have so much to be grateful for.
Our baptism for the week fell through, but you know what it is okay!! It's all in the Lord's hands and we just keep pushing forward :) I love you all and hope you're well!!! Keep the faith!
