So a level 8 typhoon blew through Hong Kong this week and it all went crazy from there!
After waiting out the pounding rain and monstrous winds, w
e pulled the bikes out and took 'em through the boonies to get to a less active's house in the middle of nowhere. Our skirts were blowing in the wind and our hair...wasn't. HA cuz it was sweaty and plastered to our faces under our super cute helmets. That was quite the missionary moment. Sister Tai just told us we were crazy for riding our bikes out to her house in the heat, but we got no money to ride the mini bus, so we do what we gotta do. When we came out of her house we found our bikes leaning nicely against the wall, freshly cleaned and tuned up. Her neighbor came out in his spandex biker outfit and told us he fixed our brakes...both of us just have one that works... and cleaned our bikes. What a nice Chinese man. Dad you would be good friends with that Chinese man! Oh and also.....on the way home a spider was crawling up my shoulder and I was hooping and hollering in this little small town for Sister Adams to get it off me...and then this big group of grannies got a real good kick out of it.

We got to teach Angela several times this week and we gave her a skirt to wear to church. and oh boy was she happy, she was so happy that she kissed us both on the cheek! Almost too much physical contact for me and Sister Adams to handle for the week. But then in another lesson she ordered COFFEE. The day after we taught her the WOW (Word of Wisdom) lesson. She has memory issues, did I explain that? But we did ALL we could to stop her from drinking it. We ordered sprite, we testified, we cried. But she looked at us, said it was the last cup, and then closed her eyes and downed that cup of coffee. And she hasn't broken the WOW since! Yay! She is remembering more and more every lesson. It really is a miracle because we had to teach her about Joseph Smith at least 5 times before she could remember it. Now, she just remembers him as that handsome prophet. She is the greatest!
Oh ya and this week, we also helped this mother who fell down the stairs with her baby in her arms!! Saddest thing ever. She didn't even speak Canto so we couldn't communicate with her. But we walked her all the way back to her home while her baby fell asleep in her arms. That is really dangerous, right? Will you pray for that baby?
I just know that being a missionary provides us with the greatest opportunities. This week, Heavenly Father put a lot of people in our path to serve. A lot of people won't listen to us teach, but they'll let us serve. I also just love being a missionary becasue we see so many things we wouldn't normally see. We are friends with people we wouldn't normally be friends with. And, we say things we wouldn't normally say. Everyday I am more and more grateful for this precious time I have to serve the Lord. This church is true and I love you!!!
Thanks for everything, have a great week!
-Sister Warner
